Hiring part-time gaming moderators

We are currently looking for a number of enthusiastic and knowledgeable gamers with experience of online communities to work as part-time moderators for one of our largest clients: a major international multi-format games publisher.

In addition to English language moderators, we are also seeking multi-lingual moderators to work within the Spanish, German, Swedish and Norwegian language gaming communities belonging to our client. Multi-lingual moderators must be fluent, native speakers of their own language, including common online terms, abbreviations and colloquialisms, plus have an excellent command of English.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Checking forum and blog content for Terms of Use breaches and responding quickly to abuse reports;
  • Editing and removing inappropriate content, and managing problem users;
  • Welcoming and providing guidance for new users, responding to frequently asked questions and posting official messages on behalf of our client;
  • Escalating issues and community questions, plus providing ad hoc and regular reports on main topics of discussion and other points of interest;
  • Multi-lingual moderators will also be asked to localise forum messages prior to posting

The ideal candidates will have:

  • A passion for computer games;
  • Thorough knowledge of the Internet and new media technologies, including experience of contributing to online gaming forums and communities;
  • Good computer proficiency skills with the ability to learn new applications quickly and effectively;
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken;
  • Flexibility and adaptability in order to support the team at all levels;
  • Experience of working within the moderation industry is preferred but not essential;
  • For multi-lingual moderators: professional localisation experience also an advantage

As part of a moderation team, you will be required to work across a rota system, including weekdays, evenings and weekends.  Full training will be provided and work will be conducted from our London offices as well as from home so a fast broadband connection and up-to-date computer is required. English language moderators can be US residents.
