The UK moderation industry is unique in having a wide range of organizations to support users and companies who offer community services: Home Office Task Force for Child Protection on the Internet Tempero is a member of the UK Government's Home Office Task Force group created in conjunction with the Children's Charities' Coalition for Internet Safety (CHIS). The Home Office Task Force was created to address the safety of children on the internet and interactive services. Click here to read the guidance paper. Think U Know is provided by CEOP (The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) and focuses on educating young people about online safety. Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) The IWF concentrates on minimising the availability of potentially illegal internet content such as images of child abuse, criminally obscene content and incitement to racial hatred content. Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre Part of CEOP's strategy for tackling Child Exploitation includes providing internet safety advice for parents and carers, and delivering a virtual police station for reporting abuse on the internet. Childline is the UK's free and confidential, 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. The Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) is made up of police forces from around the world working together to fight online child abuse. Insafe is a network of national nodes that coordinate Internet safety awareness in Europe. |
